Godly Play ~
Young Children and Worship

We offer the opportunity for children ages four years (and younger) through sixth grade to worship through our new Sunday School program, Godly Play (Young Children and Worship). The goal of Godly Play is to teach children the art of using religious language, parable, sacred story, silence, and liturgical action to help them become more fully aware of the mystery of God's presence around them and in their lives.

Godly Play is a method of Christian education and spiritual direction primarily for children ages 2 through 12. The children's worship area is a peaceful place where there is love, security, appropriate freedom, continuity, order, and meaning. The ritual of worship has God as its center and is a way of preparing children to join in worship and the full life of the congregation. Activities are developed around the order of worship commonly used in Reformed churches: assemble in God's name; proclaim God's Word; give thanks to God; and go in God's name.

RENOVARE

Would you like to become a member of a Spiritual Formation Workshop which meets as a small group for 1 1/2 hours each week. would you like to learn practical strategies that give you realistic tools that actually move you forward into Christ likeness and deepen your faith?

The purpose of these workshops is to nurture Christian growth through a process of being mutually and lovingly accountable and encouraging to each other, as each person endeavors to become a better disciple of Jesus Christ. During each workshop session, members of the group learn the Renovare (Latin, meaning to "renew") method of effective small-group strategy for spiritual growth. Each session focuses on a different dimension of Christian discipleship: prayer, virtue, empowerment, compassion, proclamation and wholeness--as seen in the life of Jesus Christ.

If you are interested in learning more about Renovare or becoming a member of a new small group (limited to a maximum of seven), please ask one of the members of a current small group: Melanie Larson, Marjorie Albright, Kris Smith, Beth Prichard or Barbara Albright.

The Child and Family Institute is an outreach project at Christ Lutheran Church that provides various programs for parents and their children that help to build strong families of faith and a spirit of community and giving. In programs like Faith-Full Families as many as 10 families gather at the church to share in a meal and activities that are designed to strengthen family bonds and community spirit.
